Default Battery

The oem battery on my 2016 streetglide is dead. Should I replace with the HD oem battery or is there something better out there.

Cool

You got a long time out of that one. Replace it with any AGM battery. Don't cheap out, and expect to replace it in another 3-4 years...

I am definitely satisfied with the life I got out of the original battery but I figured I would check if anything better is an option.

DEKA or Big Crank, both are made by same company that makes the OEM battery and are essentially identical to the OEM.

Only two manufacturers of power sports batteries in the USA. East Penn/Deka & Johnson Controls. East Penn makes the stock OEM Harley battery, Big Crank, Duracell gray case (black case made in China), O'Reilly, Napa, Throttle X-Rated & most other common ones you hear about. Just re-labled. JC makes Interstate Batteries. Yuasa are made here now under contact from others. They & Deka supply to Drag Specialties. I use the Duracel Gray from Batteries Plus. It has a two year warranty.

Whatever you get, make sure you get a battery designed for an H-D. I saw somewhere, probably on this forum that you want a battery with terminals as close to the edge of the battery as possible. Anything else will require some sort of adapter or spacer to make it fit. It also stated that those batteries that needed the adapters were not made to be Harley-Davidson batteries but just happened to fit if you used the adapter. A better battery and terminals btw... will have been engineered to handle a bit of vibration during its lifetime. The cheaper of the batteries will just look cheap around the terminals, because the manufacturer wanted to save .02 cents on lead.
