Keep doing what you have been doing. Listen if anything sounds off have a pro look at it. If it feels off have it looked at.
If it has not been done consider neck bearing. Check wheel bearing every tire change and ride. Should not be worn out yet.
I'm at 40k trouble free miles on my Springer and the compensator is going out and I think the fuel pressure regulator might be failing too. Otherwise, keep riding and repair or replace as needed.
The only failure I have had without a warning was my wheel bearing, and had I done the service myself, I'd have had the warning...
I have a 14 Limited with 130K miles. It's been trouble free with only shifter linkage bushing replaced twice and an oil pressure sender replaced.
I decided to get ahead of potential issues at 114K miles. I had my stator and regulator replaced, compensator looked very good so I just had the spring pack replaced, primary chain and tensioner replaced, new SE clutch, both sprockets, drive belt and rear swing arm bushings replaced. I then had the cam chest opened to check cam chain tensioner shoes and they were over half way worn so I had a SE cam plate installed, SE oil pump, tensioners, cams and bearings, and lifters replaced.
I use about 1-11/2 quarts of oil ever 5K. Been thinking about rebuilding or HD long block but not till I need to.
130K, very impressive! Thanks for all the tips, at 50K I might have my Indy shop open up the primary and check out everything.
I would definitely look at the Cam tensioners (Inner/Outer) , spark plugs/wires, shifter shaft bushings and linkage, wheel bearings and the cush drive rubber for the rear belt pulley.
Thank you, I had the tires replaced 5K miles ago and he changed out that cush drive so I can cross that off the list as well...
Yes. Left side where they rub against the gas tank.
(I learned that here after someone posted it.)
My fix was tape and some plastic wire tubing.
I remember reading about this years ago, I regularly check the wire for wear. I can feel a very small indent but it hasn't gotten any worse, I'll keep watching it, thanks!
