my bad…. i misunderstood the service writer. the $2700 was total for the 20k maintenance AND the rocker box work, so it was actually $1400 for extra work. sorry for the confusion. as to those who knocked me for not doing the work myself? well all i can say is if you have the time and skills fine do it yourself, i happen to have the skills and tools but really dont have the time or the inclination to sit in a freezing garage trying to work with frozen fingers on my bike! id rather be deer hunting!!!!
That's awesome, I didn't know that the ESP also pays for the 20k maintenance. Does it also pay for the 30, 40, 50k and so on?

2 hours labor? Takes me that long to R&R the gas tank.
WOW, really????
takes me 5 min to remove my seats, (1) thumb screw for the pass, (2) nuts for the diver seat,
and 10min to remove the tank (4 bolts), and THAT'S being VERY generous on time!
and 6 bolts for each rocker cover
Here is a 2:38 minute:second video on how to for the tank... https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...id:3iavuqp5XCQ
YA, I was being VERY generous on the 2 hours I could have that done in my garage in that time and a shop could do it faster FOR SURE!
I've never purchased an ESP for any vehicle I've ever owned. Heck, I've never added an ESP for any major purchase I've made, (TV's fridges etc). But for some reason this time around I succumbed to the sales managers pitch. The plan is for five years with unlimited mileage. So I'm good until 2027.
Hope I never have to use it.
I bought an "ESP" via my credit union for my 2020 RAM 3500, the 2019 FLHTP and my wife's 2019 Dodge van. All because of the computerized components. The cost via my credit union was less than half of the dealer cost for the same plan. Friends have used their coverages at dealerships. I haven't yet.
If the dealership knows it's not coming out of the customer's pocket, but being paid for by the insurance coverage, I would suspect they charge the full book rate.
Recently did upper and lower rocker box gaskets on the '14. Also put in rocker lockers, new head breathers and fabbed an external AC breather while I was in there. Total cost was around $100.
