Default phone charging hack?

Has anyone figured out a way to use the phone charging plug without keeping the door open on a 2020 street glide. There's no way my samsung 21 ultra is gonna fit in there. Also, it is true you can connect a female end thumbdrive with an sd card to play music from?

My 2014 has a cigarette lighter port in the fairing - Perhaps you can use that?

Yes - Just tried a USB drive for music recently and it works well.

Yes Sir. In my case, I have a 2021 Ultra - ran an extension from the phone cubby to my trunk. While you may not have a trunk, you can run that cable to your saddlebag or elsewhere.

Next, yes - you can connect a thumb drive with SD card to play music. Just remember - you only have one connection - so thumb drive or phone (unless you use the power outlet that the other writer suggested.

Buy a smaller phone? I reluctantly got an apple 13 mini. Droid fan as it works with GTS unit without any “modifications”, plug and play. But the 13 mini fits in RG “glove box” perfectly.

My droid fit but so tight an occasional bump would make it *****. And screw up AA guidance.

Even still, I put phone in airplane mode, saves power, have a USB with over 7k songs (1tb) and just rock on down the road unless I am on the interstate. If I have to charge phone I can but even a long ride phone doesn’t die down.

It’s BS regardless of explanation that Apple isnt plug and play.

Rock on!

I run a USB splitter like the one below and keep a charging cable on there along with a thumb drive full of music. When I need to charge my phone I just run the cable out to it and close the door on the cable. Works fine. 90% of the time I'm bluetoothing music from my phone to the bike's radio anyway.

Meh, I just plugged in a flat charging cable, ran it around my handlbars and then to my handlebar phone mount then closed the lid on the wire. No big deal.

I like your idea. Was hopeful that I could use both the phone and thumb drive. Connected a splitter in my trunk -plugged my phone into one side and the thumb drive into the other. System would only read one.

I have to see if I can somehow bluetooth my phone to use AA and, at the same time, use my thumb drive for music. My truck, as an example, have several ports. I cna plug in my phone and also plug in my thumb drive. Both will work at the same time.

Excellent point for all to consider. If I do bring a phone it is in my pocket so never an issue for me.

The USB port on your bike is not technically a charging port, it is a media port. While it "can" charge, it has minimal cappacity and some of the newer larger phones can have issues. You are best off using a regular charging port from your 12v outlet.

when i got my new phone, i think it is an iphone 11, it would not fit with the cord attached. i pulled the glove box and cut that notch out of the back of it, then epoxied a different corner onto it that i cut out of a plastic tool box. not sure why it was formed that way, i have an 19 eglide standard that has the boom 6.5 gt radio and speakers so not sure if there is anything different on your bike behind the glove box. once the epoxy cured put it back in and now i can shut the door
