Yup, cut and solder will mess up a canbuss system.
This just isn't true, unless there is something specific in the HD system that I am not aware of. I and my techs have had to solder countless backbones in CANBUS systems.
It's not for everybody, but if soldered and sealed properly, I have yet to see an issue. I have in fact seen more issues with improperly crimped connectors, corrosion intrusion, and poor connection at connector halves.

Well I'm just going by what I've seen where guys have done it on turn signals and it's messed up how the speedo works. I didn't catch on that it was the tgs wires in the original post. They are 0-5 volts not canbuss. I've just used the Namz wire extensions as they aren't expensive. On the bikes with the green connector I've always swapped the out for the CVO ones with no connector. Doing extensions on the pre canbuss bikes I've used the western splice with heat shrink, so many wires compared to canbuss. Sorry for the big pic, haven't figured out how to reduce the size.

I soldered the tgs wires when installing bars on my 14 Limited (canbus) over 100k ago and it has been through horrible roads to the Artic Circle, 49 states, 4 Canadian provinces and Mexico with zero issues.
