horn not working
I never use the damn thing, and when I do I usually hit the blights instead! LOL!
well, I used it today and Nutt'in.
Thought it may be a fuse, but no fuse is is listed for the horn in the Owners Manual
Thoughts?
Thanks!
After that, check if you have power to the horn. There are two female ended wires on the back of the horn.
Is anything else not working? Such as the odometer, cruise control, fuel gauge?
Did you change bars or anything lately?
Use a 12 volt test light and use test light leads to horn wire supply leads.
Turn bike ON and hit the horn button.
Does test light go ON with each horn press?
Then problem may be actual horn..You can also confirm the horn function of disconnected horn by application of 12 volts to actual horn terminals...jumper cables to actual horn terminals works for this test.
Make sure to disconnect factory motorcycle horn wires from horn when applying another 12 volt source.
If you do not have a 12 volt test light handy then an old 12 volt 1156 (Not LED) or 1157 regular bulb (not LED) + some short wire and tape should be enough to make a quick test light if you know the simple electrical function of bulb.
The old regular bulbs are better then LED for homemade test lights since older bulbs are not polarity sensitive and you can see the little spring inside bulb get orange if voltage is low.
*You can also use a voltage meter set to DC volts instead of a test light.. Some meters are rather inexpensive (under $10-$20 USA dollar tool)
Note: On some motorcycle/vehicles the negative/ground for horn is the frame so the ground wire at horn is sometimes a suspect.
Most times moisture just enters the horn and vibrating parts inside stick together..if it is stuck together hard enough the resistance blows fuse.

Also, I installed a HornTrigger. For me, it made it easier to hit the horn and not the turn signal.
