I have wrapped CATs in the past but never head pipes. Not good for daily drivers as it is very hard on the tubing.

If your ECM is properly tuned head heat and exhaust heat will come down. Made a big difference with our TC engines.

On mine. I experience heat as well but not really on my foot, its the back of my calf. My passenger doesnt notice any excessive heat but Idk how. Mine still has the cat. I shot pipes with a thermometer and it runs about 250 on the headpipes but at cat over 400. I dont see how removing the cat wouldnt cool it down. If its that hot on your foot, Id look at dyno tune even if its been tuned in the past. You may have got a bad dyno man or he may have had a shitty day at work that day. Be 100% sure the cat is removed also.

So, actually, I'm 5'7" and have the "Tallboys" installed so that I can extend my legs and feet out straight while cruising. My legs are way too short to use any kind of highway pegs and be comfortable. I'm also running the V&H Power Dual Headers w/ 4" Slash Cut on my 14 SGS. I have zero issues with heat on my right foot, even while riding through the desert heat, (hit 121* around Palm Springs/Desert area before) . I do ride with my boot heel on the floorboard and my toes kicked up and outward a bit once I hit cruising speed, and that may help to keep the heat of them too. And I always thought that the notch cut out of the V&H header heat shields was just for floorboard clearance............

The majority of my heat, IS the calf, now that you mention it. My cat is removed, my tunes are from Fuel Moto with several auto tunes overlapped. I do not know enough about tuning to determine if a tuner is good or bad, so never had a dyno tune done. The one dyno guy I have spoken with suggested I stay with the one I had, for the stage one mods I had at the time, so have notgiven the idea any more thought.

They have these liners that go inside the stock heat shields.
Or you can just protect your calf.

If you put that crap on you pipes they will burn out. It is not made to keep you cool. It is to keep the pipes hotter to effect exhaust flow.

Insulation keep heat in and out. If the heat is staying in the pipes, its not getting out to you. That is a given.

The damage to the pipes, if I did it, is a known risk. I doubt I would have a hard time locating a header pipe for a twin cam, if it came to that.

I think Buell95 nailed it as best answer as they are not wraps as they are actually insulators. Even have insulators for your stock and the V&H you have! Link attached below. Design Engineering

One more thing about your tune as I have had 100% great results myself with FM tunes, especially if you follow up and being a stage 1 is not too difficult.
Do you have the PV tuner you can mount on bars and watch as you ride? You could watch your AFR as you ride and see where it is running. But as you said the auto tuning you have done should have taken care of this.
