Default 12 volt panel mount

Anyone installed one of the these at the lower point of dash and ran wire under the seat?

Not that specific one, but I have used these:

https://lockitt.com/12v-outlet-euro-coax-plug

I have one mounted in the left side thigh heat shield on my Ltd and other one mounted in left-side speaker pod for the GF...look like factory OEM...

Which end connects to the battery? I assume this is for heated gear?

I have the Gerbing one mounted on 3 different bikes. Only takes 1 hand to plug in or out. No more wire hanging from seat.

I have one ordered and on the way. I've resisted this for a while - I'm likely to forget to unplug it and hop off the bike and tear something up

Yes...heated gear and battery charger can plug in with an adapter cable...
Coax plug end connects to another cable which goes thru a fuse (+ lead) directly to the battery...the additional cable comes as an accessory cable with the Battery Tender...

Since installing the WHIM unit disables the tank dash plug I used that location to mount a heated gear plug. I removed the headset plug, created a “mounting plate” with a washer, and connected the plug. Under the tank it ends in a two prong SAE plug and then connects to the battery. This gives me a quick disconnect point to remove the tank.

i posted about this with pictures but I don’t have a link handy.

I did not know the whim "disables" the hardwire connection. I know the intercom is turned off in the BCM, when using the whim, but no one has ever said its disabled. Personally, I would not remove mine, in case my whim ever has issues, I can use theintercom as a failsafe. Of course the headsets are different, but its still an option.

As far as I know when the WHIM is enabled the wired plugs are disabled. I have not found a way in the radio to switch between the two.

I installed my whim myself, then took it to the dealer to have it turned on. They did that, but forgot to turn off the intercom. So I would get a phone call on the bike, answer it with my bluetooth headset, and then suddenly the sound went away.

When I called the dealer about it, he had me check, and sadly I forget how, but we discovered the intercom was still turned on, and when I answered the call, the sound was switching to intercom. Apparently it has priority over bluetooth. I could have probably gotten a intercom headset and used it, even with the whim installed. Its just that the intercom will interfere with bluetooth.

That little mistake of their cost me another 80 mile round trip to get corrected.
