Just some FYI. For those thinking either or. I switched to Road Glide Limited from Ultra Limited back in April. After 100K+ behind a batwing on two different bikes, I totaled my Ultra Limited back in April. Found a great deal on a 2020 Road Load Limited with 1900 miles on it. Bought it. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the lighter steering feel & it's great in the mountain twisties. Bike is great. But where I prefer the batwing is: The dash is far superior. I like having the gauges ABOVE the Nav system. More "line of site". Also, there is chronic glare from the GTS & gauges because of the angles. Drives me up the wall. Never had that issue on the UL. Also, the "cockpit area" of the Ultra Limited is quieter to me when wearing my modular helmet. I believe wind & rain protection is better on the batwing. I miss having the adjustable wind deflectors on the batwing. If I could sell this one & find a low mileage 2020 Ultra Limited, I'd do it in a heartbeat. (I prefer the hydraulic clutch that was still available on 2020 models). Remember, this is my experience & review.

I've ridden a couple of the new style road glides, the CVO and the CVO ST. The stock short shield is useless for me. I have never ridden the older style RG, but it sounds like I wouldn't like them much either. I'm with you, I prefer the batwing.
Just passed 60k miles on my RGL. JMO but after having a number of bikes with frame mount fairings would never go back to a fork mounted one.
Will agree though the glare when the sun hits the GPS screen is annoying.
I recently moved to a 17 Ultra Limited. I considered the other style but for me, the fairing and light not moving with the handlebars is not for me. I get that some say you really dont move your bars that much unless your going slow in a parking lit. I also didn't like what seemed to me how far away things are. I'm very happy with what I have.
I agreed on gauge layout and placement. However I love the great headlamps on the Road Glide front end. Lots of light on the road at night and to be seen in the day.
Ergonomically the rider position with handlebar placement on the Road Glide feels more comfortable, but I didn't know that until i had already bought the Batwing
A windshield change and the eBay adjustable deflectors made a huge difference for us. We used to have a bat wing and tried a 2023 batwing to see the difference and both immediately wanted to get back on our RGU.
I will agree that rain protection and speedo placement is better on the bat and the glare is occasionally an issue but now that we're used to the RGU we could never go back.
Different bikes for different people is the beauty of it all. Get a bat, BMW or wing, whatever makes you happiest! Hope you find a way to make this one work for you or a way to get into whatever is going to give you the biggest smile.
