So now your running like 310 degrees when warm outside? I wonder if that's average, are most here are at that temp, seems little hot with no cat, fans, etc?

it will creep up to 320. But that is a hell if a lot better than the 360-375 I was seeing previously

Whats you guys take for average temps on hot summer days for the M8s? Is +300 degrees norm for a stage 1? I know HD says high 200s I believe.

At the root of the discussion, 300-30 is "normal" but its not right..

With that being said written in the manual is a contradiction to what some consider truth.

Kevin brings up some great points on this that some of you may find interesting.

thank you.

I have been told up to 350 is normal. But I am also curious.

so fuel moto and the shop I took my bike to for diagnosis both said the engine temp sensor is in the head.

because it is at the hottest part of the engine does it really read engine temperature?

my guess is the oil temp isn’t that high but I don’t have a gauge that reads oil temp.

or even a temp gauge to read cyl temperature.

I am gonna fight until I get it as low as possible. Next step is to move my speakers to the rear saddle bags. Remove the front fairings and install a larger oil cooler.

Here are two videos that you may find very interesting....btw, the temp sensor in the head is NOT the hottest part of the engine, but it is what we use as an indicator of how hot the engine is running overall. On a Twin Cam you never want to see that temp over 230 F, and on a M8, you never want to see it over 260 F.

I agree with Shelly and Kevin. Good thing is your bike is running good and not ******* like your first post. I don't know whats worse, chasing power numbers or heat numbers.

as for the overheating or running hot. It’s a lack of airflow due to the lower fairings. I installed love jugs and that cools off the engine significantly. When the temp is below 320 the bike runs amazing.

so now I need to find some replacement speaker pods for the front or move my lower speakers to the saddlebag lids.
I switched from the Rushmore style lowers to the old style lowers and took the doors off. The old style without the doors move a lot more air...
