Android Auto
I eventually got the right combo of radio cords and phone cords to not make it disconnect on bumps. I did also bend/pinch/make the end of the usb-c port that goes into my phone a little so it would be harder to plug into the phone and stay in the phone harder. if that makes sense.
I've just learned to plug in the phone after i turn the key on, I've also learned to turn the bike to accessory mode when at a fuel stop so i don't have to unplug and plug the phone back in every time.
Sometimes you just have to do what works.
I also have been turning bike on accessory mode at gas stops and most short under 15 minute stops for 10 years on my 2015 RGS, both 6.5 and GTS radios. (In accessory mode the security will disable the ignition)
For wireless AA I use aawireless2 dongle. Works great with GTS radio.
Probably not my best joke, but being Android Auto impaired, I was also trying to tongue-in-cheek imply that since it's been happening before & after an update, it might be working as designed...
The poster who said it may be his personal phone settings, in retrospect, is probably closer to the solution...
IMHO, the OP is way too thin skinned, and a bit self absorbed, to think we are here at his beck & call and somehow limited based on what he wants.
I blocked him so I won't have to see, read, or deal with his tantrums in the future.
Peace out....

OK, back to your issue. Since you shared that your setting were correct, let's go a different way. Sounds like your phone is connected directly to the cable in the cubby.
Several of us use a wireless connector and keep our phones in our pockets or the trunk. That wireless connector comes on as soon as you turn the key on. So, this would be like you're plugging the phone in after your turn the bike on.
I have tried several of these - all have worked. My first was the Motorla MA1 connector $49.96). I have also tried the Air2 Ottocast ($55) and the MSXTTLY ($37.99). I have the MA1 on the bike and use the others on my vehicles. When I got a new truck, that was already wireless - so I put that in the bike as a backup.
When travelling and folks ask how I connect, I often connect their bike with my backup, let them use it on a trip - and then they buy one when we get back. I think you will find there are a number of advantages to these connectors.
So, why not get one from Amazon. Hook it up and see how it works. If that solves the issue, then keep it. If not, well, you have 30 days to return it. Try the MAI - go to the bike, turn it on before you get on the bike, put your phone it your pocket - jump on the bike - and by that time the MA1 should connect, and you are all set.
Let us know how this works.
My Phone would barely fit into the cuddy storage compartment on the RG and SG. It would always come unplugged on the RG with the slightest bump in the road.
Problem solved, using it for almost two years now.

To bad harley can't figure out GM figured out years ago for Bluetooth. On bike I tend to USB more, rather than spend the time with blue tooth. I want to get on bike and go, just like my truck, get in and go.
