Because buffeting has been one of the major issues discussed in this forum I wonder if Harley Davidson really solved the buffeting issue with adding the mailbox to the batwing.
Please let me know if you rode one.
Not that I'm interested in trading my 07SG but just wondering....
If so, I think I will make a slot in my windshield to try to achieve the same result as with the mailbox and get some air behind the batwing. Anyone already tried this in the past?
There have been a few reviews by riders on the forum that have got new 14's, they say the buffeting is gone. Do a search, or scroll through the first 5-10 pages, they are there. Stay safe out there brother.
Just put a 15" one on mine. Looks like crap but the buffeting is totally gone, I can see clearly down the road and wind pounding by face is gone. On hot days it gets a little warm but putting a leg down on the crash bar pushes all the air you need on the body. Can also hear the tunes much better. Call me old but sick of being in a blur all the time.

I agree. All it takes is the right shield. And for the lower buffeting, there are fixes as well. No need for the mail slot.
The bigger question is, where do the bugs go that are channeled up into the mail slot by the fairing design???
Good question. And where does the pounding rain go as well? I sure hope that channel is waterproofed so as not leak down inside the faring. But I am sure HD thought of that, we just have to believe!

Looked in this fairing channel the other day @ dealership and there's a small gap all around the outer edges...guessing the wind either forces shut, or comes through w/added buffeting. I don't smoke, but the ones who ride/smoke might not think this "mail-slot" was a great idea.
