Hey guys I have a dark smoke 7 lrs and it works great . I also bought a 10 but I never put it on because the 7 works so well . I'm 6,2 tall .
With the stock windshield it would try to rattle my sunglasses off but now nice and smooth . I also initially tried the hd 7 wind splitter but the lrs works better .
Buffeting was bad for me at 6' ordered the LRS 8" and will be installing this weekend, as all my parts finally arrived, trying to only pull faring once. From the sound of it the new shield should solve my problem, which will be nice, I too was losing my glasses and couldn't hear stereo except on full volume
It's obvious to most of us that buffeting is a function of speed, the faster you go, the lower it will hit you in the head. However, what many folks don't consider is headwind. 25 mph winds here in Oklahoma are normal and 35 mph isn't unusual. That can be a 70 mph difference in buffet on two way trips. I sometimes plan my day to get a tailwind (no buffet at all) on the way home.
I'm 5'9" and the LRS 8" Dark Smoke is perfect for me I can see over it just fine, no buffeting until I get to 80mph or above, I also got the new 3 pouch windshield bag for my 14, the only thing I notice while normal riding is a little more air hitting me on the chin, but I can live with that, it will be welcomed when it gets hot this summer.
SPF62 I have a 7 inch LRS, out today for a ride at one point doing 75 MPH into a 45 MPH,
with just a little buffeting with a 3/4 helmet. What was bothering the most was the wind
noise, and if you add 70+45 I was pushing a lot of wind. The buffeting I did get was A
little as I said. A 8 inch or 9 inch shield may be better, but I like to look over the Shield.
The buffeting was a lot less then what I got on my 07 Road King Custom.
update, for SGS..
5'9, full face helmut, and experiencing severe buffeting ( eyes hard to focus etc) at 65-70 mph and up. I installed the HD fork mounted wind deflectors ( remained with standard 3' stock windshield ) and the buffeting is gone.
I rode up to 85 mph in heavy winds into and out from and these shields rock. I may buy a higher LRW but now there is no need. Also I love the look of the deflectors which are high quality chrome pieces.
