Ordered new bars today and service manual for the Tri Glide. You have been a great help. I'll let you all know how I make out.

Thanks for the great write up and pics. I have no intention of changing my bars but the steps to do it will help for other things.

Much appreciated. These are the type of posts that makes this forum worth joining.

I too am looking to get my bars closer to me. I've never changed out the bars on anything I've had before and was/am a bit hesitant on doing it. After looking at this write-up and all the pics that go along with it, I'm going to do the bars myself.
I have a Tri-Glide also so I'll wait until G Pa lets us know how his swap went before I do mine.
Thanks to everyone who had input on this post. Your write-ups and tips make it easier for all of us who want to do the swap.

Do these bars simply move the grip position back 2"? I like the stock bar height, the wrist angle is also just about right but I would like to move them back about 2" - a slight height increase might be ok but not really after any higher, in fact a little lower might be good too. I find that with the cruise set, if I sit up to where I want to be then my knuckles just touch the back of the grips.

I'm wanting to leave my fairing mirrors as is but I'm also wanting an additional 2" of pullback but without additional height. However looking at the angle of the OEM bars and the limited adjustment between the tank and the fairing, I don't see how you could get any more pullback without a proportional increase in the height of the bars. The angle of the bars is pretty much set, so unless there was a bar set with curved uprights I don't think it's doable.

You are correct, it is proportioned, and possibly pulled back a bit more because the bars dont fit correctly as intended.

I left my mirrors on, there's no problem with vision.
