Has anyone installed the H.D. garage door opener on the '14 limited? Short of having the dealer install, how hard/easy was it and did you use the recommended electrical connector. going to tear into mine this weekend and was looking for a bit of advice

I had my dealer install on my 14 Limited, but can make suggestions.
First; you made a great choice. The HD garage door opener works perfectly. Should come standard.
Step one, check the instructions. The instructions that come with the opener are not accurate for the 14 models or at least they were not a couple months ago. My dealer had to pull updated instructions off the dealer tech web site. I would verify this with your selling dealer.
Once you have installed the system into your bike I would recommend syncing and checking the receiver before setting up with your opener. It's easier to sync on the bench.
I did mine per the updated instructions and what was a 15 minute job on a 13 is now is a couple hours. The instructions have you pulling the tank and running 2 wires back to the bcm adapter (sold separate). I hear some have tapped into the accy socket wires under fairing. on the wiring colors the instructions will say blue, yellow, whatever, they are all black and the tracer is the color called out (black/yellow, black/blue etc.) Mike

I know they had to pull the tank. As I said, a feature like this should come standard, if not the wiring should be in place for a quick and easy install. Especially on a motorcycle costing close to $25,000!!!

I can't agree more. Do you happen to have the part number for the opener you had installed? I searched the HD site and found several.
Have you looked at the Mo-Door garage door openers? They are cheaper that the HD opener and they don't require you to pull the tank or the fairing depending on where you want to mount it. Just another option to consider.
Even better: I bought a mini-remote door opener on eBay for $20, sync'd it to my opener, then used clear RTV to glue it to the underside of my left saddlebag lid. Flip open the bag, push button, close lid, drive into garage. Fuk all that extra expense of the MoCo opener and wiring it into the bike. Not worth it. When the battery needs replacing, just peel it and the RTV off, replace it, and stick it back on with new RTV.
Just checked out the Mo-Door openers (thanks Webo), just a thought, anyone know if you can wire one of those to one of the unused accessory switches? Not real crazy about the idea of drilling a hole in my brand new bike and I don't know much about the electrical stuff.
Taranwanderer - I am with you on this one - such a devise on my bike is not worth all of this trouble and expense.
My cars have linked system, so I have two extra door openers. I simply carry one in the trunk - pull to my garage, wife gets off, open the trunk and open the door.
If I am alone, I get off and open - no big deal to me. Not ragging on those that want this - but not really for me.
Have you looked at the Mo-Door garage door openers?
Thanks. I checked them out but would want something that uses one of my empty accessory switches.
I think I'm going to try the low tech route for a bit.
I does suck that they don't have an opener on this bike. Homelink has been in cars since the '90s. I would bet that most everyone keeps the bike in a garage too. It's not only a small percentage of the owners would benefit.
