Default Damaged before delivery

Well yesterday I received my new SGS. It had been scheduled to be delivered in the morning because that was my last chance to make sure someone was home to sign for it. I got a call at working saying they had some bad news that someone parked too close to a wall and had scratched it. They wanted to keep the bike and "fix" it but after seeing the damage I felt the fairing shell should be replaced. Especially with the gouge and scratch going into the pinstripe. My question is any of y'all have anything like this happen to you?

New bike, I would have then make it new again by replacing fairing rather than repairing...

Good luck!

I wouldn`t want ANYTHING brand new that had been damaged in any way. You paid for NEW; that`s what you should get.

I'd assumed that would be the consensus. I told them I'd even take it off the bike and put the new one I don't want any more hands on it.

I guess it depends on several things.

How long do you plan on keeping the bike? A year or two, or is this a long term bike?

What kind of relationship do you have with your dealer? Can you depend on him making it right again in a couple of years if need be?

You could always let them make the fix, then inspect it and accept or reject it if you don't like what you see.

If you insist on replacement, the dealer has to fork out $ for a new fairing. However, he should be able to sell your old one for quite a bit as well. I see parts with minor damage selling on ebay for big $, so he'll recoup part of his money and keep a happy customer.

My right saddlebag flew off a mile after i picked her up, turned round back to dealers, which was very apologetic and ordered a BRAND NEW one immeidiatly, just waiting for NEW lock to come in next week and it will be back to new!!
S##t happens, for me it's how the dealer deals with the problems that counts
