This will and always be the biggest debate other than reg vs syn oil...

Here is my 2 cents. Windshield height is only part of the issue. There are many other factors. Torso length vs height of the rider (Me and my buddy are both 6'1" but he is a 36 inseam and I'm a 32, therefor my torso is longer and I stick up and over the windshield more. How much wind is coming up from the bottom. Lowers or elephant ears play a big role in stopping this wind. Fork deflectors work well too. Also seat position can play a part, are you using a reduced reach seat or a custom farther back seat.

Whats worked for me is the 7" wind-splitter which cut most of the wind above and lowers on long trips.

Hope this helps you out and any other guys reading this.

I put the 7 " windsplitter on over the weekend. It worked so well I forgot I put it on until I read this post. Darn thing works great!

Default windshield

[quote=2014HDFLHXSE;12479959]I am looking at upgrading from the stock windshield on the 2014 SGS.
While the air louvre supposedly cuts down on buffeting, I still am not satisfied at highway speeds. Have any of you upgraded and what are your recommendations?
Thanks in advance![/quo

I went with the 10" wind splitter, i should had did more lookng it is a little to tall for me the top of the windshield where it is curved distorts my vision. I wll be getting something else. I alos went with the fork mounted wind deflectors, not crazy about the look but they work well

Had them on my heritage and loved them. No cooling issues at all. Even in the desert of 29 Palms

I went with the 7" Freedom Shields dark tint and its great. Literally kept wifey and me in a bubble through the wind and the rain. I asked her if she got wet and she said none touched her. Good shield. I am 5'10 32" inseam
