Anybody having an issue using a USB cable w/ an Android Phone? Samsung S3 here. Tried it out last night. It seemed to download all of my music from the phone but I have no real control over it. The system just seems to play whatever song it wants. I can't control it using the phone and the bike's touchscreen only gives me limited control. Tried to open up a different music player on the phone and nothing through the bike's speakers...just playing whatever it wants. In other words if I was to open Pandora on the phone, it won't play. Bluetooth seems to work fine though. Haven't done the update yet because I don't have a big enuf thumb drive yet. Weird. There's plenty of options to play music so it's not like I can't get tunes; I'd just like to know what the heck is going on. I'm usually fairly tech savvy but can't figure this one.

When you connect the phone via USB, it is treated as a memory stik or thumb drive. It doesn't use any media play software from the phone. Hope this helps you understand what's up.
Another update????? I have the 17.4.1 is there another???
Yes. I think you have 1.17.1? Update 1.17.4 is available.
From what I've read, the latest update doesn't fix the issues that "bug" me & put back some of the issues 1.17.1 fixed. I'm staying with version 1.17.1 until there's an update that actually fixes issues w/o putting more issues back that were previously fixed.
Played around a bit more tonight and figured a few things out. Turns out when using the USB cable it only reads the phone's hard drive and not the expansion memory chip which is where all my music is stored. Explains that. The other issue I was having was not being able to manipulate playlists and so on. That was solved by going into the menu settings and changing from "preset" to "scan". That allowed me to skip around a bit and choose different files.
Thanks for the info Hammz. I thought I read where people were streaming Pandora from their phones through the bike. Guess I misread that. For my time and money hooking the phone up to the bike is sort of more trouble than it's worth. Just copied about 4G of music to a thumb drive and will use that instead. Fits inside the cubby nicely and easy to navigate using the infotainment system. My .02 anyway.
Ah Hammz, I HAVE the 1.17.4 update already, just put the numbers in the wrong order from memory!! lol
Tell you what I did find out yesterday, I have my music on a USB stick and I took it out the other day to download some routes for my trip to Holland, then I put my MUSIC USB stick back in and bearing in mind this stick has been out for over a week, it went straight back to the song I was playing when I took it out (1900 songs on it!!)
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble w/ that Favorites soft key. Mine always goes to the WB band. Tried to change it but no luck. These advanced radios/infotainment systems have been around awhile in a variety of vehicles. Hard to fathom w/ HD is having such a hard time w/ this one. Oh well...as I said before, at least you can get tunes out of it one way or another.

Ady
This is what I'm talking about too. The USB stick is much more user friendly when plugged in than the phone. I've got about 600 songs on a 4G stick. That should last me. Plus I can maneuver around and get what I want, when I want. A pretty simple work-around anyway.
I use a 32GB flash drive and it is pretty good about picking up where it was playing last. It has forgotten and went back to radio once or twice though.
The last few contributors have mentioned a USB stick - has anyone found the songs just stopping and starting whilst playing. It is intermittent, but having only been riding the new bike this week but it has happened every time I have taken it out.

Could be your CB squelch is too low or the weatherband alert is breaking in. Either on will over ride the media player.
