Not sure but According to that bulletin the FLHTCU is not excepted,,,,, I better check to see if it's activated.

So do you think the fans are not doing anything useful?
My personal experience with the Wards fans is YES, they are doing something. Just don't think they'll affect the operation of the EITMS since the Ultra uses the AAT sensor & its located on left side of steering head under batwing.

So, mine was idling in the driveway for a minute and when I got the door open and into the garage it went active, the air temp was under 80F so it had to be internal temp but not sure how it's measuring unless it's getting an oil temp. 2014 SG.

I would bet that it may have been under 80, yet the heat rising from the driveway was greater and that is what activated it.. It is truly a sensor set at 80 and not engine based, just after 4 minutes it will activate if engaged.

It's still not warm here but I checked mine out and it was disabled from the dealer so I did enable it over the weekend, just hope it gets warm enough to activate eventually.

Agree with the sound and smell but it ONLY activates at idle. It kicks off as soon as you give it the gas.

Temp gauge was at 73 on the bike. I don't know how it's supposed to work, just what it did yesterday.

If you are referring to the external head cooling fans...

I never said that. I said that the fans are not affecting whether or not the EITMS is activating.

But since you asked, MY personal opinion is the fans are a waste of money.
I'll never knock a guy for liking or using them, however.

I can maybe see merit in them if you spend a lot of time stopped or stop stop go traffic....
...and I mean daily for more than 30 minutes.

I got caught in downtown San Antonio traffic the other evening. 90 degrees, and I got STUCK stuck. Since I have the PV-2 on, I decided to just let it run and watch. Left the EITMS deactivated. 45 minutes to go 1/2 mile trying to get on the highway, nowhere to go, stop and go, mostly stop, Engine temp never got above 255, coolant temp never got above 200, the radiator fans did kick on a couple of times.

What so many fail to remember is these are air cooled engines, not to be confused with the water jacket engines in our cars and trucks. The temperatures are different, tolerances are different, and the cooling method is different.

A couple of years ago I stated that the only guys that have a heat problem is those that bought an oil temp gauge...
I still stand by that...

Merely my 2 cents... and likely not worth that much. YMMV

Hopefully it will eventually get warm enough here in Northern Illinois to test it out. They just said on the news this morning that this could be the coldest start to May in 75 years!
