Default Touch Up Paint Stick...

I found a small chip (probably from a kicked up stone) in the lower part of my fairing…It's less than 1/4 inch in size, not deep, and looks like the first layer of paint got chipped. It's not too noticeable unless you look close (of course it stands out to me)…my question is, should I fill it with the pen-type touch up paint, then use the clear coat touch up pen over it? Or just leave it alone? I just noticed it the other day, so it must have just happened. I'm not much of a painter, and am afraid it will stick out like a sore thumb if I mess up. I've used the pen type stuff on my truck before, with ok results, but didn't really care cause its a truck after all... but have never on a bike…any tips or ideas?

My experience with touch up paint, even with extensive fine sanding & polishing, is that it does stick out like a sore thumb. I've yet to find a pro on my area that will undertake a touch up job. They'll want to paint the whole item and it costs more than buying a new factory painted part from Harley. Maybe someone here has had better experience.

Try going to the colorite web sight. They have instructional videos that might help out.
