Default 14 Ultra Limited Rear Shock Pressure

I was on a road, if you can call it that, that I'd never been on before. It was pretty rought with lots of uneven tar, potholes and what I can only describe as a sink hole. I was doing a ride to nowhere and had no clue where I was (which is the best part)

Overall though on the rougher parts I was bottoming out and getting bounced up out of the saddle a number of time. Not fun. So seeing I only have 300 miles on her I figure there's no pressure in the rear shocks.

I've been doing some searching, as I don't have an owners manual yet, and I'm only finding pressure levels for older Ultras. Is the pressure levels the same? If so, I'm 235lbs so going by what I found I should increase the pressure up to 15-20 pnds.

That sounds about right?

Solo rider 200-250 lbs. 20-30 psi. 2 up riders 50 psi. I normally run my limited at 45 psi.

Same here. I had mine set to 35 for solo (250 lbs.) When we went two up I left it there for a spell but didn't care for it. Upped it to 45 and felt pretty good. I have just left it there for solo riding and feel like it's a good setup. I like a stiffer suspension though. The books recommendations are too low for my tastes. Bottom line...you sound a bit low to me.

And since you haven't got to the manual, a heads up for you. The shocks have very little chamber volume and you can blow them out with a regular air compressor. So either set the regulator on you air compressor at the setting you want to fill at or use the hand air pump that Harley sells.

Like has been said, I wouldn't go near the shocks with a compressor. What you really need is a "lossless" air pump. You can get them online or a bicycle shop. But it has to be a lossless model otherwise you'll loose most of the pressure you put it. They don't hold much at all. You can also get the touring shock pump at Harley. That's what I use.

Put mine at 35 a couple weeks ago. Checked it Saturday, and it was down to 25. Put it up to 45 since my wife was gonna be with me Sunday. I didn't check it this morning.

How often should we have to pump it back up?

I use the Little hand Air Pump form Harley. $49 but it's good quality and easy to use. When I pump up to a desired pressure, it's stays there. I have gone several months and have lost maybe 2 pounds at the most.

This is a good question. I'm wondering if the shocks had pressure at one point and it bled out.

I did go to HD as I had a credit on file and picked up one of their pumps. I pumped it up to 35 and went for a ride. Much smoother, but I'll have to keep an eye on whether it bleeds out again.

If you lost 10 psi pressure over the course of a few days I'd say you have a problem. If you're under warranty take it in and have them check it. If not, it still needs to be addressed on your dime unfortunately. If so may be a good time to consider upgrading.
