Default Another Infotainment Discovery

It seems (as I was one of them) many of our initial reactions to the 6.5 system is it is "messed up"...when in fact we just have failed to realize how to setup something....

Case in point....my co-worker who also rides a SGS complained to me that his biggest complaint with the GPS is no distance to turn feature in the map menu to select. I told him I agreed that time to turn was pretty useless and I wanted actual distance to turn. I further told him I discovered the setting quite by accident.

To have the "Distance to Turn" enabled on the Map screen you must do this:

1. Go to the Home Screen
2. Click Setup in upper right corner
3. Scroll on the right side to Navigation Setup
4. Click "Appearance"
5. Enable "Next Street"

Hope this helps....

I agree. The infotainment system to me is a lot like these new Android phones. They don't come with a lot of instructions how all the fancy features work. We learn from trial and error, word of mouth and many times by accident.

You are correct that many don't understand setup but the system also has some weird quirks to it.

That's a great tip, thank you. How about displaying GPS speed on the map. Is there anyway to enable that feature? TIA

I was trying to connect a 8 gb flash drive via the usb and it worked ok, had it coming out of the speakers.. I added some music and then tried it again and it would not work. I must have changed something so I need to go through all of the options and try to play with it some more. I did find that the audio was set to blue tooth for my cell phone. Every time you change a option, you could be effecting another option. I think the audio can only be set to one option via the USB. So I think my problem could be the USB was change to my cell phone instead of my flash drive.

Easy one...
1. On the map screen, click in one of the date fields
2. Scroll on right side down to speed
3. Select

A little quirk with enabling the next street feature. It seems that if you enable it and also enable the option to display radio/media information, the media information gets displayed in the left field where you might have had it configured to show miles to destination or whatever.

Yes, but the media information then replaces whatever you had selected for the left hand data field.
