So I just picked up my new 14' SGS and the GPS is not working. Displays, Navigation not ready, please wait..... It's been 2 days and still nothing. Thinking my local HD Dealer didn't download the software...
Happened to me as well
I did net even get out of the door and said gps doesn't work.
Lots of excuses, but bottom Line is it was not installed or they erased it during set up.
Took them 2 hours to down load from HD and get it uploaded on my ride.
Why didn't your dealer go through it with you when you bought it?
He was going to, but because he said it was taking a little longer, it will load and we will go through it. everything else works on the bike, except GPS.
Bought my '14 SGS this past Friday, 6-6-14 and had the same exact issue. Delivery tech blamed the issue on the building blocking satellite reception but by later that evening it still hadnt connected, much less let me into Navigation at all.
I reinstalled the latest software from the Harley website (the bike was already showing the latest update version) but it did not fix the problem. Took it into the dealer the very next day (Saturday) where they proceeded to do everything they could including removing the fairing cover to check all connections. Still no solution. They are calling HD on Monday to discuss.
Not quite clear from previous poster, what was the resolution exactly? It does seem as if the Nav isn't even installed or the internal satellite antenna is disconnected. As mentioned, everything else on the BoomBox seems to work just fine.
There is a service bulletin out on it now, on mine it came with version 5 loaded from factory, dealer didnt know this so they tried to update with the latest they had version 4 and it wiped the programing.
The called HD and they walked the dealer thru it, emailed them the latest and greatest version 5 and installed it, worked glitchy...
Tech said let me look again, had a communication error buried in the codes, he did a hard reset on the radio and all is good... Its been 2 weeks since I piled up the bike today and 600 trouble free miles so far
@ HD Jake. I guess I am missing something. Not sure what version 4 or 5 is. However on the HD site it still shows the software update that I have loaded. Could you explain a little more, please?
I should have used the terms differently, sorry...The way the dealer explained it to me is the version is the update, so right now version or update 5 is being shipped on bikes from the factory and a service bulletin just got pushed to the dealers telling them that as well, if they try and load update(version 4) over 5, it will wipe the nav data base clean.
That is what happened to my new bike
Same thing happened to me. HD burned 1.17.5 on new bikes in the last month but did not tell dealers about the new software in a timely manner - the current "public" version is 1.17.4. The result has been many dealers, as part of their delivery prep, "flash" the latest software (v.4) THEY have onto all the new bikes. But in this instance, they were not aware that HD has already installed a newer (but unreleased) version of the BoomBox software.
So as the previous poster mentioned, when they overwrote the .5 software with .4 it scrambled the maps database, rendering the navigation module of the boombox inoperable.
Spoke with the service manager at my local dealer yesterday and he thinks 1.17.5 may never see the light of day. He's hearing HD will likely go straight to 1.17.6 for their next public release. Take it for what it's worth but it's good to know they're squashing bugs and creating new enhancement in the software.
