Is it me, or do these new bikes get better mileage?
When I first got my 2011, I got around 42 mpg all the time until I started dicking with things like exhaust and stuff. It had the 96" motor.
So far, my totally stock 103" RK is averaging around 52 mpg. Granted, when I really want to check mileage, I tend to riding a bit easier than I normally do. Like no trying to do 2nd gear wheelies, and such stuff.
I'm just amazed that this bike gets such good mileage. Almost afraid to dick with it, but I'm gonna have to. The heat issue is something that has to be addressed, and soon.
Anyone else getting really good mileage? My bike only has about 1600 miles on it right now, so it should continue to improve a little bit as it continues to break in.
I'm with ya'. I get a lil' over 42 stop and go around the city, but got up to 55.5 on a cruise through the keys 2 weeks ago. Thats consistently better than my '09 did, except at very high altitude.
Oh, and I am stage 1: V+H pro pipe, SE ac, and FP3.
[QUOTE=nchogfan;12824782]How in the hell do you guys get mileage in the 50's??? Mine is right around 40 mpg no matter where, how or solo/passenger, and it's bone stock.[/QUOTE
I'm with you on this to, 38-42 mpg is all I've squeezed out of my 14 ultra limited.
Funny thing the 42 came riding two up.

I would imagine our bikes (flhtcu) are quite a bit heavier than the flhx. Power to weight ratio is greatly affected. Bike, gear, riding 2 up...we're lookin' at close to 1150 to 1200 lbs...depending how big you and the little lady are. Lots more fuel needed to get these beasts up and going and then to maintain.
