oil light doesnt come on till 2 psig its and idiot light. You could be blasting down the interstate running 90 with 5psig of oil pressure and not know it.
You should concern yourself with a vital fluid pressure.
Do you get your bp checked? why the heart works on volume not pressure right....wrong.
Well, you can worry your pretty little head about it. I'm not. I worry about more important ****, like what brand oil I should use and if I should use 20-50 in all three holes. Oh, yeah, and if I should change my fluids every 3k or 5k. But MOST of all, I have to decide on which cup holder to mount on my bike to hold my mocha-latte-chai-frappachino!!!!!! I really worry about that last thing.......
A Babbitt bearing engine needs oil pressure to float the crank on a cushion of oil, all a roller and ball bearing engine needs is lubrication that's why lower oil pressure on a Harley is no big deal, different concept than car engines
A Babbitt bearing engine needs oil pressure to float the crank on a cushion of oil is not really true since the bearings actually slide on a oil film. There is truly pressure applications but not in your typical car motors They actually need more pressure since the oil needs to travel thru the camshaft and crankshaft with many leaks out each bearing. As the bearings wears, the oil pressure will slowly fail, usually starving off the overhead cam shaft.
