While I am a Garmin fan(first car unit in '06?) and wish HD would have used them for the gps base but------------. After about 4K miles on '14ultra have found the current system to be reasonably satisfactory---I don't(and may never) plan trips enough to set a day(or more) 0f waypoints but would like a little more convenient way to just add a destination to see some route options and time estimates---but have learned to work with the limitations and small shortcomings---the bike is too sweet to worry about the little ****!!!!

Same here, good outlook. It'll all get sorted out in due time. Never used GPS on a bike before and I still remember how to use a map if needed. If the little woman in the infotainment system try's to reroute me when I don't want her to...I mute her! And I still make it to my destination.
When I've had GPS in any of my other vehicles I've only ever used the maps anyway so I can see what roads are available and where I'm at. Works great! Besides, by the time I figure out how to use everything that's available with this system it will be updated with any needed fixes. Kind of like cell phones and smart phones....wonder how anyone got by 10 years ago!

4) SG & SGS should have included headset connector standard so voice commands could be accessed.
agreed...Harley should remedy this or continue to be considered a 'second rate' manufacturer.
Lets face it, most of use do not trust Harley completely to support loyal customers. Nes pas?

But then why would you knowingly buy a bike from a "second rate" manufacturer?

I agree... When I look at the infotainment system as a whole I only see the GPS as 1/3 of the system. Personally I think the communication system 1/3 and the radio part of the system is outstanding with very few modifications needed to make it better. Eventually the glitches will all be worked out and the small % of riders who NEED the convince of additional waypoints rather then breaking them up into multiple trips will get what they want.
I'm just afraid the MoCo will introduce a "new and improved" radio/GPS from Garmin, infotainment system on a new model that is not backward compatible with this "Old" hardware.
The only way to solve the problems with our old 2014 Rushmore's will be to purchase a brand new Limited with all the problems SOLVED...
No money in fixing problems, just in selling new bikes...and ya gott'a keep the shareholders happy FIRST and customers LAST.
Just about every software outfit on the planet has a version release every time you turn around with "bug fixes"
Phucking MoCo won't even acknowledge there is a problem (multiple problems), let alone drop us an update.
I absolutely agree, the infotainment is a very small part of the Rushmore riding experience, but being ****, a big-time techie plus spending a $hit load of $$ on my new bike...I JUST WANT IT TO WORK AS DESIGNED...
I don't see why Harley just doesn't focus on the waypoint limitation and push out that patch. That should not be a big coding thing to resolve. Its been almost a year since the 2014s hit the market and still no update for at least that glaring problem.
I would have thought that they would have fixed that last winter. What also baffles me is that Harley didn't catch that during their testing phase.

FYI
My dealer had the 14 Ultra for a couple of weeks, for two 6.5 issues* and the brake recall while I was out of town.
*The volume joystick control intermittently stops functioning and the GPS compass is always wrong.
They stated;
The volume joystick always worked everytime they tried it.
The GPS compass was pointing in the right direct while they tested it (it never did for me), so they never touched anything.
SO OK...
I got on the bike and the GPS and compass worked great. I was surprised, until today when the compass was off again (but at least now, it's right half of the time).
I can't understand how if they didn't touch it, why did it work perfectly for 100 miles?
Today I realized, when I say "compass", I meant the small one overlaid on the GPS map.
I went to the larger, almost full screen compass option and it was always accurate for another 100 miles today.
*The volume joystick control intermittently stops functioning
My Volume just started doing this. I went for dinner the other night and it worked when I stopped, but when I came back out and started the bike, it would not volume up or down.
You have to power the bike completely off then back on for it to come back. This has happened 3 times since then. These new switches work off the CANbus system and my guess is something is buggy or tieing up data within the CANbus system.
Actually I was in autotune with my PV at the time. This may have been it. I'll try to recreate it and report back.
