Default Navixtras release 2013 Q2

I was looking at the Naviextra website and noticed the release is 2013 Q2 for North America. I thought I looked before and I think it was 2012 Q2. Is this an update ?

Me either, just noticed that today. I uploaded it but I have no idea what was changed, at least this to me it is an indication that H-D will soon release a new version of infotainment software that will include the navigations updates.

It's really $150 to "upgrade" to a map that is a year old?

Apparently when you put your USB into the PC it updates it automatically with no cost. The USB must be first fingerprinted with you bike.

"Fingerprinted", not sure what that term means or how to go about completing the process on a USB. Could you explain please?

I poked around the "how to's" on their website and it discussed how to download the update, but nothing about how to actually transfer it to the bike. It said to download the "tool kit" which I did, but it then tells you that there is no device connected.

You have to stick a USB drive in the USB port of the radio and export the GPS 'fingerprint' to it. Once you do that, the took kit will recognize the USB drive as the GPS device.

Here are the instructions how to do it:

So when I plugged the fingerprinted thumbdrive in my laptop, it popped up ad said that there was an important update and downloaded it to the thumbdrive. Took the thumbdrive and plugged it into the bike and turned it on. It says "authorization in process" and just spins and spins and nothing happens. I let it sit for 30 minutes before I cancelled it.
