Well I've had the bike for 2 weeks and the tour pack lid distance when open has been bothering me a little. In my opinion it goes way past 90° when open all the way with the tether attached.
My solution was to unhook the tether from the bottom of the tour pack using a T20 torx driver, after I had it off and looked at it I realized I could take the tether out and shorten it. It is attached in a semi figure 8 pattern. I unhooked the end on the right side post "looking at the inside of the mount" fed it around the post it was hooked to and reattached it to the left hand post.
Now the lid opens just past the 90° position like the older ultra models did.
