Default Solved the 6.5 GPS Issues

I know, the cable looks snaky but when the 6.5 couldn't find a major street in a large city near me last week, I figured time to take out the Zumo, it was just sitting on the shelf anyway. Hopefully the MOCO will make the 6.5 a little more user-friendly with upgrades. I didn't get the AJJ, I figured I'd try visually following the Zumo and if I get in a bind the Zumo will connect via BlueTooth to a wireless Motorola headset I have and I can get directions through that. We'll see what happens...

i know how you feel, i put a ~$600 Navi system in my truck, and it could not get me from church to my house without adding ~20 minutes of driving to route me ONLY via main roads

That has to be the smallest pic I've ever seen on this site..lol... Was the street just not shown on the map? I would guess a map update should fix that easily. Mt brother has a CVO with the 6.5 and we use his navi on all our trips this year and it hasn't let us down yet.

Yeah, I screwed something up. This was my first attempt at posting a picture, guess I'll have to practice a bit. As to the 6.5, it found the street name but in an entirely different town, it wanted to take me out further east. It was a fairly easy navigation request, only about 40 miles away. And there's been some issues with it taking me way out of the way going from A to B. I don't use it a lot, maybe if I did it might come easier, for now I'll keep the Zumo mounted.

One of the fuew times I used the GPS I wanted to get from the house to a HD shop via a number of smaller towns (to avoid interstate contruction. It did ok at first but once it got me to the first town, it routed me into the town and gave about 37 turns when it should have just turned me left at the edge of town. Craploa - they should have made the thing a monitor for whatever you plug into it.

I did the same thing. Good old Garmin installed on my bike. Maybe one day Harley will update the GPS and it will be usable

More importantly. I have life time map updates with Garmin. Harley wants $150 per update which they say they will update once a year.

I put a spare mount & the Nuvi on the Ultra.
Now I use the 6.5 GPS for laughs.

I haven't bought a GPS since my Garmin NUVI 6 years ago and I refuse to pay for a map update. I just use my phone gps or google maps directions printed in advance. I'm kinda liking the latter lately, I think you see and notice more. A built in GPS on a bike would probably be cool though.

I saw at least 6 new Limiteds with Garmins on the bars while in Sturgis this year. And I wasn't looking for it. I'm sure there were more. What a joke it seems to be. One guy did say that the rest of the system works ok. Its just the GPS that he didn't trust anymore. Plus on a long trip, who wants to lug a laptop with you to plan tomorrows ride?
