2015 RGS. 49000+ miles. Started getting a bad squeaking noise from the engine. Waiting on new cams and bearings. Is there an underlying cause for this or did I just wear them out? I ride a lot and Im not exactly easy on it but dont run it at high rpm for long periods of time. Mine is a DD and I go crazy without my bike, especially when they dont provide a loaner. Been stuck in a cage for a week now.
I'm betting it was not your bearings that failed, but your lifters. They are a known weak point on the twin cam motors. Nothing you can do to avoid the lifter failure except change them out early. I used to do mine with every rear tire change.
That makes more sense. The lifters all of a sudden made a lot of noise at startup until the oil pressure got up. Im only saying bearings because thats what they told me. I realize it could be anything. Getting a straight honest answer from the dealer is like pulling teeth. All I know is I have ESP and after my $50 deductible if its fixed Ill be happy.
This annoys the crap out of me. Would this cause damage to the cams or bearings? I wonder if they told me cams just to get me to upgrade. I told them no.
Check to make sure it isn't the motor mount rod on the top front of the engine. Had to replace mine 3 times over 100k miles. Temp fix for the annoyance is wd-40.
Additional note: Hard to imagine wearing out the cam bearings already. As mentioned above, I have over 100k miles on my '14 Limited and have had no cam bearings issues at all. I don't baby it at all either

Got her back. I got new tappets, cams, cam bearings, chain tentioners, and oil pump. All for $50. Thank you ESP!
You Said (This annoys the crap out of me. Would this cause damage to the cams or bearings? I wonder if they told me cams just to get me to upgrade. I told them no)
Yes. They were trying to get you to pay for at least the parts (cams) that they had to replace anyway. sonsofbeaches cant trust nobody
