Anyone have any electrical issues with their 2014 Touring bikes? I picked up my 2014 FLHTK and went on a couple of short rides. During the rides I noticed that the red security light was always on. When I took it to the dealership I was told everything was fine. On my first long ride at about 75 miles the bike shut down completely. When I pulled over and tried to restart the red security light, odometer and headlight blinked like strobe lights while relays under seat were clicking uncontrollably. After sitting at the side of the road for a couple of hours the bike cooled off and started immediately. The dealer had the bike for about 2 weeks attempting to troubleshoot the issue and found that there was a problem with the battery ground. The cable had a bad crimp from the factory on the lug that connected the wire to the frame. Just curious if anyone has experienced any issues similar to this?
We had a rider stop by on Saturday that had starting problems in Wisconsin. Had to have the bike towed to a dealership that couldn't find the problem.
Rode to Iowa and same thing, no start!
Sittting at our dealership before they opened, frustrated!
Traded a 2014 Limited with only 800 miles for another Limited.
It was ruining their vacation!
Didn't want to be stranded in a lonely place out west.
Wonder how they made out.
Curious if it might fall under the lemon law.
Similar thing happened to me. Once towed to the dealer bike started fine. Dealer did check wiring and mentioned a few wires crimped. Since then everything has been fine and that was about 6,000 miles ago and a few months. No troubles since.
I can tell you that on my 14UL ,I will get on the bike fob in pocket and bike doesn't recognize it. I move forward or take key out an then it works. This never happens on my 2010...dlr found nothing
Here is what Im experiencing:
Turn on the ignition; Headlamp, passing lamps, all the running and marker lights come one, the fuel pump primes but thats it. No gauges, blinkers dont work, brake lights dont work, radio does not come on, no odometer, no starter. I purchased a battery charger after speaking with dealer service department yesterday and charged the bike last night to full charge but still the nothing.
It happened after returning from a ride this past Monday night about 9:30pm and everything was normal. Went out to the bike Tuesday to adjust the brightness on the touch screen and after abut 15sec the radio and gauges went off and now here. Any ideas? Scheduling today for the dealer to pick it up.

It happened to me a few times. after riding for a min or two it goes out. I think its from starting the bike while I am not on the bike then walking around to get on as I ride off the fob warning goes away.

Here's what I found. If the fob is in my left hand pocket, occasionally the bike will not "see" it and wont start. In my right hand pocket, no problems at all. Something to do with the location of the antenna for the security system, and actually having the Fob being too close to it; Failing its handshake.
