Not sure but from what I've been told I think you have to change the head pipes and eliminate the cats to get total benefit from the heat reduction from the exhaust stage one might help a little but you won't gain that much benefit for $1,800 for heat reduction and you will get a little performance benefit your Harley air-cooled and I don't know if your BMW had a radiator that is a major difference
Don't know how mechanical you are you could also do it yourself probably have to use Harley products but I don't know if you void your warranty if you do it yourself about $500 exhaust $300 for Harley tuner to keep your warranty unless you decide to use something else and whatever for your air filter and you can shop for a discounted prices for the stuff don't no if allowed to use names on the form so I will let you do the searching some of the stuff you can get cheaper it is not that hard to do a stage one all you have to do is unbolt and bolt the new mufflers on of course according to torque spec also a couple screws for the air filter or if you change back plate and most tuners have a smart tune you drive round and it memorizes an tunes your motorcycle as you drive unless you did want it dynoed also before you buy a tuner make sure that if you are going to do anything higher than a stage 1 you get a tuner that is going to be compatible so if you are thinking of doing a stage 3 eventually and get a tuner that will be capable of doing that and the dealer you see uses those tuner or performance shop

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here it goes. I have a 2019 Heritage Classic with a 114. This is my first Harley after owning a BMW R1200c for 20 years, I still have an R1200s. My Harley is mechanically bone stock. One HUGE difference between the HD and BMW is riding the HD is like sitting over an oven, this thing is HOT. My question is would a stage one cool this thing off? The better sound would be nice but not a priority( old BMW guy) really would like to cool this thing down. Unfortunately, live in the Chicago area so traffic is always an issue so doing 70 all the time isn't possible. The dealer wants $1800+ and swears this will do the trick. I'm not 100% convinced. Appreciate the help. Thanks
Yes, a stage 1 will help cool it, but it will never be as cool as a BMW. These are hot-running engines. Dealers will always charge you a ridiculous fee. It's fairly easy to do a stage 1 yourself - slip-ons, tuner and air. Just make sure they are all HD parts so you keep your warranty. You'll get plenty of help from t his forum.
There's also other stuff you can do for heat, like Love Jugs fans. I put those on my super-red-hot Fatboy 110 and the difference was amazing. Do a search and you'll tons of stuff on Love Jugs on this forum. They ugly but they do the job. There's other brands others swear by, and things like tank lifts, etc.

the slip ons and air cleaner don't need to be Harley to keep your warranty , just the tuner . changing your head pipes for ones without catalytic converters probably also voids your warranty .

I hear what you're saying, but the problem is it may or may not be true. I don't know what it's like in Canada, but here in the Disunited States, you hear different things from different dealers.
One dealer may deny a warranty claim that it swore up and down it would honor. That's just the way it is. There are tons of stories on this forum about the confusion and dishonesty of the Harley warranty. The only absolutely sure way to keep it intact is to stay with HD parts AND labor.
And please god don't let's get into another discussion about the The Magnuson-Moss Act.
Remember, though, unless I'm mistaken, that the Cat on these bikes is in the muffler, not the head pipe, so just changing out the mufflers would help cut down on the heat. And, to stay EPA compliant, the only option I'm aware of for replacement mufflers is the S&S one, which does still have a Cat. Agree with previous post about the H-D dealers being all over the place about staying in Warranty with changes; but, seems the common response is that as long as you use the Harley Pro Street Tuner, that you will be OK. Any other tuner will void the Warranty it seems.
Ironic about the perception of heat. After riding Indians the past few years, I think that heat on these M8 Heritages, even in stock form, is non-existent, and that is even riding here in AZ desert right now, in 100+-degree heat. But, coming off a BMW, could see how it's a different ballgame.

Agree with the S&S. I have the S&S slip-ons, Pro Street tuner and the HD Heavy Breather. I have a PowerVision tuner sitting in my house waiting for my warranty to run out.
