Starting to do my 5k this morning and see this glob of what appears to be heavy gear grease or something, anything I should be wary of here? No smell, brown maybe former reddish color, little moisture around that area but maybe just from it heating up and running backwards? Thoughts?
Thanks that’s good to know. Got all 3 holes about done and broke bolt #1 trying to do it right and torque it to 27ft lb. on my Kobalt wrench. This is for the primary chaincase cover, swapped to narrow version. Have a torque adapter coming today that hopefully proves better to use.
Also, required to remove the floorboard, and shift lever. Does that splined shaft get antiseize on it?
Well you could put anti seize on it, it won't do it any harm but as it gets used and moves regularly seizing is probably the least of its problems. Dab of lithium grease would do just fine in my opinion.

I have the narrow primary on my 2018 FLHXS, and the torque value for chaincase cover fasteners is 12-13 ft-lbs.
