Bunt nose cone wire
While dissembling the cross over pipe the timing/nose cone wire was pinched between the center post and the cross over pipe. This is the wire that runs from the nose cone up to underneath the on/off switch between the tanks. Appears to have been made that way. Two of the wires were burned through the insulation to the bear wire. Don't no why it still ran.
There are 5 wires (black, red, white, brown, green). A 2 inch splice is going to be needed. So what code and gauge wire is this?
The dealer would not say what wire it was and neither would Milwaukee claiming liability.
It would be greatly appreciated to find out what wire this is.
Thank you
But since you asked... I'm guessing this is part of the MAIN WIRING HARNESS and not a piece that can be easily replaced (like the timing sensor plate which has only 3 wires on your model). I usually use a electrical stripper/crimper tool to gauge wire sizes. Since you'll need to strip the wire anyway, go ahead and cut it to determine the size. Any automotive grade (stranded) wire will work fine. Get some shrink wrap tubing and solder everything to do a nice job of it. If you don't already have the wire, it's kind of pricey to get all the colors, so just buy one color of the right size you need and keep track of which splice goes to which end. If you can't find the right gauge wire, go one size heavier (smaller number). When you're done, wrap it all in Scotch 33+ or Scotch 88 tape which will hold up for years. Electrical tape is one place it never pays to go cheap.
