This question is regarding a 98 FLSTS.
While dissembling the cross over pipe the timing/nose cone wire was pinched between the center post and the cross over pipe. This is the wire that runs from the nose cone up to underneath the on/off switch between the tanks. Appears to have been made that way. Two of the wires were burned through the insulation to the bear wire. Don't no why it still ran.
There are 5 wires (black, red, white, brown, green). A 2 inch splice is going to be needed. So what code and gauge wire is this?
The dealer would not say what wire it was and neither would Milwaukee claiming liability.
It would be greatly appreciated to find out what wire this is.
Yea man, I pic is worth a thousand words. Or find it on the Ronnie's Microfiche and show us that way.
More than likely it's just 16ga stranded copper conductor. I'd advise against using a solder joint. The heat from the solder joint makes the copper wire brittle, then over time from vibrations it will crack and fail. Use a compression splice.
