My Iron and Fat Bob are 100% correct with GPS reading, the 48 and Breakout where a bit off but I have corrected it with the FP3.
There are also plenty of phone apps available to read the speed correctly if you have no FP3 or Speedohealer to fix it. But in most
cases the difference is so small that it is not worth doing that.
I rode by one of those "you speed is.. " radar tailors the other day; my speedometer was spot-on at 40.
There are speedometer, phone apps, I got one when I was curious about the speed of my commuter train (which gets u pto about 70).
But many of the navigation apps, e.g., waze, also display your speed.
Almost all speedometers read a little high because they can't legally read low. This applies to cars, bikes, trucks, etc.
That is actually a law in Europe and maybe other places, not the USA. Though for liability reasons, they usually are that way in the USA, but it is not a law and easy enough on modern vehicles to do.
Code of Federal Regulations
§393.82 Speedometer.
Each bus, truck, and truck-tractor must be equipped with a speedometer indicating vehicle speed in miles per hour and/or kilometers per hour. The speedometer must be accurate to within plus or minus 8 km/hr (5 mph) at a speed of 80 km/hr (50 mph).
According to the radar speed signs my Fat Boy's speedo is right there. Now if they could just make a speedo that does not condensate inside that would be great
