In my case (M8 Deluxe), I had to remove one muffler to access the 36mm rear axle nut to allow adjustment, but it was surprisingly easy to remove the muffler and also allows a little anti-seize to be applied on the muffler and mounts to ensure it stays easy in the future.

I didn’t have to on my Heritage. I used a “Gearwrench” ratcheting box wrench on the adjuster bolt. There was just enough room for the ratchet mechanism to move the wrench a single “click,” but it was enough.

Any chance you can send me picture of this wrench? Sorry I have no clue what it is. I will really appreciate it

I have a 36 mm ratcheting torque adapter. Do not have to remove mufflers.

I bought it at a home store called Menards. Home Depot has it on their web store and can ship to your local store. Lowe's has it also.

If you want to get high tech, you can also use a laser level. I tried that doing my last 4 wheel alignment on a car and that worked pretty well.

They make plugs for the wheel axle that mark center. I made some for the swingarm axle out of bolts, works great.
