Last week I installed an extended heal shifter on my '19 Heritage 114. Luv it and never had any issues adapting to the change, but in the '90' I had several H-Ds all with heal/toe shifters. On my '19 the heal/toe shifter make it very easy to find that elusive "N". This is the one change I would never give up, it make shifting up, down, and finding "N" sooooo much easier and the ride much more enjoyable.

to get the longer piece with the splines on it, did you have to take off the floor boards or were y you able to insert it like the stock one for the single shifter

On my Softail Slim I just loosen the Shifter spline bracket from behind enough to get the new spline on .Hope that makes sense .

it kind of does... but mine is a 19 heritage.... the spline and the bracket that connects to the shift linkage is all one piece.... the spline is fixed to the bracket with no way to separate them

Did you look down behind the floorboard, On the other side of the spline holder ..Mine has to screws that need and allen key wrench to loosen .
As we know the Heritage doesn't have the heel shifter. In past models I have found the heel shifter to be of great help in finding neutral. So much so that on the new Heritage I'm fumbling around trying in vain to find it, neutral and the heel shifter. HD has a kit to install a heel shifter and it's chrome. For me that's great because too much black on the bike as it is. Walking around looking at other Softails it appears that their chrome shifter is the same dimensions as the black one on the Heritage. But looks can be deceiving. Anyone know if in fact the Softail shifters are the same across models?
H-D have a Black rear shifter kit or you use the chrome one and get another chrome front lever too.
Chrome front shifter Item 21 Part No 33895-82E SHIFT LEVER KIT, with 7686, 10200350 and shift lever (chrome) FLDE, FLFB, FLFBS, FLFBS ANV, FLFBS ANX, FLSL
Note an Old part number, I suspect the rear would be a similar from earlier models too.
Im thinking about trying this to see if helps me find neutral. Scratching my head a bit. Not obvious why you need to undo those two screws you've arrowed. Do you have to take that lower casting off because otherwise there's insufficient clearance to slide the spline out before it touches the primary case?
If neutral is hard to find, your clutch is dragging a little. Harley just changed the release ramps to open the clutch more and reduce the drag. See attachment.
Original M8 Softail ramps are 19 degrees.
