As we know the Heritage doesn't have the heel shifter. In past models I have found the heel shifter to be of great help in finding neutral. So much so that on the new Heritage I'm fumbling around trying in vain to find it, neutral and the heel shifter. HD has a kit to install a heel shifter and it's chrome. For me that's great because too much black on the bike as it is. Walking around looking at other Softails it appears that their chrome shifter is the same dimensions as the black one on the Heritage. But looks can be deceiving. Anyone know if in fact the Softail shifters are the same across models?
Cant help with finding a spare chrome shifter but I agree. Finding neutral with the heel
shifter is a snap.
You do realize with this transmission you can also select neutral from second gear as well as first? This is handy when coming up to a stop.
Yes I'm aware that N can can reached from 2. Generally speaking my riding habits end up in 1 when coming to a stop. If I need N, for me easier with heel shifter. Parking in the garage I prefer to be in N. It's new, not broken in but my old shifting habits die hard.
Mine too. After riding the same bike for 25 years my habits are pretty fixed as well. I had the heel shifter installed on my bike before I took delivery.
Im also in my third set of handlebars trying to get the same riding position I had.

The taller footboards may make that tricky. Not to say you find a position you like, but it might not quite be the same.

The footboard height isnt as big an issue as the fact that the wheelbase was increased by two inches so the seat could be moved back and down, while my arms and legs are the same length theyve always been.
Fortunately, I discovered that the handlebars on the 18+ Low Rider are the exact same bend as the Handlebars that came on my 94 FLSTN, so that helps a lot.

I compared 2014 vs 2019 shifterand yes they are same thing
The ONLY thing I have found on my 2020 Heritage I dislike is the shifter. I've owned a parade of Harleys and the shifter on this new bike is the worst I've ever had. Finding neutral is like wrestling a baby gator with your big toe.
I put on a heel/toe shifter, problem solved. It's not as smooth as my previous heel/toe shifters because of the changes mentioned above, but it is still a HUGE improvement. Finding neutral now is a snap.
Last week I installed an extended heal shifter on my '19 Heritage 114. Luv it and never had any issues adapting to the change, but in the '90' I had several H-Ds all with heal/toe shifters. On my '19 the heal/toe shifter make it very easy to find that elusive "N". This is the one change I would never give up, it make shifting up, down, and finding "N" sooooo much easier and the ride much more enjoyable.

If I wind up keeping the bike I expect Ill be looking for an extended heel shifter. I have no idea why they moved the shifter forward so the heel shifter overlaps the footboard. My old bike wasnt that way.
