Stage 1 differences
I remember reading that somewhere but im not sure if it's true.
It turns up how fast the butterfly opens.
Ideally the computer will open it as much as road speed, load, rpm will take without pouring to much gas to it.
Twist it up a notch if you want after that you are probably defeating the motor.
I played with it on a 2014 sgs with an fp3. I could set it to normal, race or 1 to 1.
I was hoping for a 1/2 twist to be wide open because i have a messed up right hand.
It doesn't work like that. It just speeds up the opening of the butterfly.
These settings are determined on a dyno like Jamie at Fuel Moto said to someone who posted earlier.
Also, at very low rpm the throttle is made less senitive to make low speed manuevers easy and putting arround at 30 mph smooth and not jerky.
This bike has always impressed me with its sheer grunt. Well, they didn't do a dyno on my bike, and I can't claim that my seat of the pants dyno has ever been calibrated but the difference is unquestionable. The bike pulls very strongly in all 6 gears but mostly 2nd - 6th. On the freeway doing 70 there is no need to drop it into 5th to pass. In 2nd through 4th it could snap my head backward with a quick twist of the wick. Very pleased with that part of the work.
The bike definitely pulls harder quicker, and then maintains that high torque for a good long while. It was 55 miles to get back from the dealer, 40 of which were backroads, the rest freeway so I had a good chance to experience the differences in all conditions, at least those where I ride most of the time, which is 2100 - ~3700rpms.
What they didn't do was to address my fuel venting issue. I explained what was going on with it to them beforehand but when I picked the bike up the tech came out and told me that he couldn't duplicate it. And suggested that I was filling it up too full. I walked him out to the bike which I had already warmed up, and was at less than a half tank, and started it back up. Chatted for a couple of minutes and he says, "ah I just saw a drop fall on the ground", right behind the primary. Then another. No way I was leaving it so I'll have to take it back in, probably in the Spring. Running out of riding season around here. Don't want to leave the bike for another day now.
