Looking to get 1st Harley after not riding for 20 yrs. Narrowed my decision to a Heritage Classic either a 2019 Vivid Black 114, or a 2020 Vivid Black and chrome 107. I think I could get both at a similar price. I really cant decide between the two, and I was hoping to get some comments on my thoughts.
2019 Vivid Black 114 I like the 114 because it already has the Hi-flow air filter, I read it may also have a little slower throttle response, and the longer stroke may make it have more potential for mods. I dont think there is a big difference in power between the two motors (?) (at least what I would use). I like the blacked-out windscreen over the all clear windscreen.
2020 Vivid Black and Chrome 107 I like the contrast between the black and the chrome, but not the wind screen. I would probably put a High Flow air filter in the 1st 60 days, maybe all of Stage 1 (so more $).
I plan on driving mostly on weekend and nights after work. I could see in the future that I'll be doing some short touring with my wife. I test rode the Heritage and it fits me well. Probably too much personal info, but from a touring aspect, I weigh around 240, and my wife is around 115lb. Im in my mid 50s.
Personally Id get the 114. Just personal preference. Easier to tweak visuals than go into the motor for more, and yes the 114 has more power. You will notice especially 2-up at higher speeds. It becomes more obvious after break in miles too. Both are great bikes so you really cant make a terrible choice either way.
Its a great bike that does everything well. For touring youll want a backrest for your wife with the bigger pad, and youll both want a better seat. The stocker is ok for a few hundred miles, but above 400 youll be feeling it.

I just rode these exact 2 models. I went w the 114. I rode them 1 then immediately the other. Easiest decision ever and i got an insane deal on the 2019 114.
Just my opinion but that what you solicited, get something besides a "boring black" bike. Personally I don't care for the blacked out look but I didn't have the option for a 114 chromed version. Things I've added, passenger back rest and rack, engine guard, pegs, etc., are chrome. I'm probably going to change the bars and will get chrome. I't giving me a desired mixture of blackened and chrome along with the gorgeous 2-tone red paint. Unless you are planning on racing either the stock 107 or 114 will be more than adequate for your riding. If you are planning on racing you need something besides a Harley. Old saying, "I don't have a fast bike, I have a Harley". Either engine will move you along nicely.
With a good luggage rack on the back of the sissy bar you can strap a sizable "soft bag" and carry a few days worth of supplies. Definitely suitable for touring. Enjoy either choice but no substitution for cubic inches.
EDIT ADD; A good seat with driver's back rest will lengthen your riding day. Mine is the Mustang wide touring. Several posting about it here.
