Folks,
I’ve been looking at a low mileage 2018 Fatboy 114. Just wondering if there are any issues with the power train I should be leary of. I’m also thinking of a new 19 Fatboy 114, cause there are lots of incentives on the 19’s. Is there much diff between 18, 19, or 20?
Thanks
I just bought an ‘18 FLFBS last month with 510 miles on it. As far as I know, there are no differences between the ‘18 - ‘20 models. I went with the used bike over new because I saved $5k out the door.
There haven't been any Softail updates to the initially released monoshock frame models that I'm aware of. If you can get some good incentives on the '19 I would do that. I got an '18 when the '19s were released and got a good deal.
It's only the oilpump design.

Don't know about Fatboys, but over in the world of Heritages some '18 bikes suffered a failure of the bolt that holds the rear shock tension adjuster under the seat. The fix was to replace it with a Grade 8 bolt. I looked at my '19 after I bought it and saw that the bolt was now a Grade 8. The other things suffered by a small number of bikes was an issue with a fuel pressure relief line that somehow resulted in a small puddle of gasoline under the bikes periodically. I don't know enough to describe the actual issue and the fix, but a buddy had it on his and it was not a big deal to get fixed. Odds are your bike won't have it so no big deal. The oil pump is an easy upgrade if you do your own work, and there are almost no verified cases of a softail wet sumping, so again certainly not a deal breaker.
By the way, I thought Milton Ontario had a bylaw prohibiting Fatboys within city limits. Rumor is it will extend to Miltisauga. (sorry, inside joke)
