Hat tip to Tom aka Pirsch Fire Wagon for posting this info elsewhere on another forum as they are as I understand it a testing dealership.
First the news.
Since 2016 H-D dealerships have not been able to Tune very well because of the EPA. (SE-PST EPA limited tuning parameters.) However, the latest up-date WILL allow Tuners to add/subtract based on “Auto-Tune” to give a much better Tune.
Now, the Limit has been removed when the Tech clicks on the message out-of-range. But ONLY in Auto-Tune Selection.
AND, it will NOT void the Warranty! When the MAP is saved, the Computer logs the Vin as compliant.
A basic understanding is that the EPA now allows the Auto-Tune to adjust where necessary. It’s approved by both EPA and EPA Compliance and therefore everything is A-0-K!
If you haven’t gotten the up-date it should be out in a week or so – Dependent on this COVID-19 / We were a "Testing" Shop.
I think that is fantastic news for H-D dealerships and new owners who wish to dyno tune and make the most of their especially new bike stage kits. To the question; Is this going to allow 128/131 kits to become available for softails? I think it should. I see no reason it could not if only requiring the bike to be dyno tuned using SE-PST with the latest update of auto tune to meet EPA and per H-D warranty requirements. Lol I am excited and pissed as I recently did a stage kit.

Buckminns in Xenia. Theyve been an outstanding dealership all around and did great with my bike warranty build and tune.
However If I had an older bike or was willing to forfeit warranty to go aftermarket I probably would have had to go elsewhere for the aftermarket tuner & dyno tune.
I have not yet spoke to them about the updates in SE-PST auto-tune options.
Interesting. Seems suspect to me. I expect the liquid cooled V-twin to be an excellent addition but not a replacement to a pretty damn good & more understood & appreciated everyday m8.
Pirshfirewagon also said that the M8 will be gone by next year so for me not a good source of info at all.
Yeah there's no ****in way the M8 would be gone after just 4 years of production.
Especially when it meets CARB/Euro5, and beats out BMW's new R18, and the TS111.
There's no way any company is gonna sink a few hundred million into a brand new enigne, and frame to go with it only to drop it less than 5 years later.
Now the EVO Sportsters? I can see those going away next year. But the M8? Not a chance.
The jugs and pistons can go in Softails ,there's no cat convertor headpipe for Softies and the stock Softails with convertors in the muffler the CC isn't large enough for EPA or warranty. So it's the short and long blocks that won't fit , most 128/131 parts will.
