I had a DK customs 587 ac with external breather. I like it but bit noisey. The bike does not have a tuner or aftermarket mufflers.. yet!
I reinstalled the stock ac to test it out... boy the bike seemed to get very hot. Not sure what happened.. a little oil sprayed on my pipes. Appeared to come from a breather but not sure. None of the warning lights came on.
I put the 587 back on.
Do the stock AC run hotter.. maybe I'm not used to it?
I forgot to mention, I lowered the oil level a bit to lesson the chance for oil coming out of breathers.. as you know moco directs this down the throttle body. I used one of those siphon pumps for boats to do this as I have one laying around. The remaining oil level was 1/4 from bottom of dip stick cold. Before and after ride levels were fine.

It all looked fine. And, yes the tube was pointing down the throat of the intake. I have since swapped back to the other AC. I prefer the external breather set up. Its a bit noisier. Will give it a test again today
In that case, where was the oil that you found coming from?
I think some came from one of the breather bolts. Perhaps the not enough pipe thread or rubber cap leaked a bit. Tested ot out this morning so all good.
Im not sure how relevant this is to this situation per say but, DK Customs did publish a video about stock airbox vs aftermarket in terms of cooling down your engine.

Yes, although I have not seen this video, I thought restriction of the stock AC would result in more heat. Also, they are designed for to muffle for noise regulations. It would stand to reason that this would result in more heat overall. But I did not think it would result in the amount I felt. Regardless, I have put the open free flowing ac on and things back to normal. And after seeing that video it will stay on... as all the benefits of one makes sense to me
