Drill hole where the red circle is?
you can just connect voltage meter to pig tail and measure voltage. No need to drill anything to measure voltage but might be good hack for getting to terminal screw.

Well I for one wouldn't be poking anything down there for a jump start ...what did you have in mind for that? if it's metal and happens to touch anything in there at the same time ...bang! This is exactly why there is a cover over it, and you remove the negative terminal BEFORE poking anything down there to remove the positive screw if you need to take out the battery.

Just measure the voltage on the pigtail ...why do you need to measure the voltage anyway? if the battery is dud, get a new one?

Leave the cover alone gets my vote

No hole cutting for me. That's why I asked. I learned you can check the voltage thru the pigtail (didn't know that). I'm gonna just attach 2 leads and route them down and through the rt side cover just in case.
Thanks for all the responses

If they are going to be used for jump starting, they should be at least 8 AWG.

Yes, thanks. I've ordered the GBC007 from NOCO.
I just didn't want to put that whole battery with tray back in without being able to access it if needed on the road
