Clutch cable replacement

Default Clutch cable replacement
Has anyone replaced the new fangled clutch cable (with plastic clip & “automatic” spring adjuster) with an old styled metal adjuster clutch cable? Is it a straight forward replacement or is there something else in the new design that prevents changing to the old style? Tia

I have not but I always recommend folks take a look at barnett clutches for cables and such. Good luck brother

It's been done. Some of the early bar-swaps had to use the old style because the newer weren't available yet. Look on YouTube for a guy named InfamousCreep, his name is Jesse & he has a 2020 FXLRS that has the old style clutch cable. Works fine.

I replaced mine with a Magnum Shielding one piece clutch cable when I swapped my bars. Piece of cake.

ditto here...Magnum Shielding...easy peasy.

I went with 12 inch bars and the clutch cable was alittle tight, so while having my 10k mile service done at a local bike shop (Iron Mikes), I had them do the clutch cable. They told me they didn't have a longer upper for the "new plastic harley ****", so they slapped a full old-school style clutch cable on, works completely fine.

(However, I feel they went alittle too long on it, so I might end up going back with the old but routing it a different way.)

I saw that plastic clip style chit and started laughing. Yes, replaced my bars and like most posts above went with the old style.
