Question 4" Oil Filter
Time to change my fluids. I have a 107 engine with the pre mid-2019 oil pump and a Stage 1 upgrade. Anyone used the new 4" HD oil filter recommended by HD in their 2020 Service Bulletin? Any noticeable effect on engine temperature?

yes, part # 62700296, service and parts should be giving you this filter. they were issued a service bulletin to do so last year

Edit: the new oil pumps were not installed on the M8's until somewhere around June '19. date code on your down tube decal will have the production date. Regardless which oil pump, you should still be running the new filter

That filter will have effect on oil temperature.

Since the housing is larger and thus has more surface area to dissipate heat, technically it should lower the oil temp. I'd be surprised, though, if it did so to any noticeable degree.

I've been running the new filter for the past two oil changes. No differences noticed in running condition.

Just a little more oil is the only noticable difference

My 2020's been serviced by the dealer twice. Both times they used the old size filter. Can't say I'm losing any sleep over that 🙂.
