[IDEA] Update for Standard vs Streetbob style differences
If you look at some of the early 2k Sportsters, they had a tank similar to the Standard/Streetbob. Then, as the "Nightster" and the more bobbed out versions of the already minimalist Sportster gained popularity, they pretty much switched all Sportsters to the 3 gallon peanut tank. I think they should do the same between the Streetbob and the Standard. Have the Streetbob come with a ~3 gallon peanut tank, and keep the Standard as-is. Both would retain their "place" in the Softail lineup but gain individuality. Plus, IMO, the peanut tank fits the Streetbob much more than the current tank does in terms of personality.
I mocked up a peanut tank for my Streetbob awhile back, but ran into issues with the fuel pump, so that project is on hold currently, but check this pic out showing what a Streetbob looks like with a peanut tank:
I just think it'd be a cool idea to kinda give the Streetbob and Standard some more style separation while keeping them around the same price tag and give some variety to the lower-end Softail options.
Forgot to include Icon edition Streetbob Revival Glide for an extra 5k of course, you get double vivid black.

H-D if you're listening, I'll work remote, just pay me to be your new design and marketing guy.

Now, the online customization option sounds AWESOME. "I want a streetbob, chrome engine, black handlebars, black wheels, etc etc" would be sick

My Sporty gets around 45 mpg, and FLHCS about 42, with the assumed numbers above, the difference is only about 10 more miles, give or take..so yeh, not a deal breaker, at all. But...me being me, I'd throw a 5 gal on it.. Even with a 200 mile range I feel like I'm stopping for gas just as often as Sportster. 😟
You bike looks awesome btw. I LOVE the look of the peanut tank on a softail.

Also, the stock fuel pump had the overflow built in so I blocked that off as the sporty tank had a separate one. Never had issues with any coming out though and I fill it all the way up!
