As long as you don't go at it like a bull in a china shop.
The bezel is only partially folded over the plastic, it is actually really easy to get a lever in to ease the half fold out ...just enough to get the glass off ...don't try to straighten the metal ...and don't be a thug and just yank the fold up ...many passes around the whole circumference ...softly softly will do it easy enough.

Getting the bezel back on might be a bit tight if you don't lift the fold enough but some feeler gauges will help pop it back on (or its even easier to straighten the fold a touch more once the bevel is off ...but don't go stupid, just enough to get it back on)

To refold the edge, again, do it softly softly ...ease it down over several passes ...and just enough so that it had a good grip ...remember, it wasn't flattened when you started so no need to do that now.

Plus, the fold of the bezel is out of sight in the mount so no one is going to see it unless they take the speedo out again.

Take your time, you'll be fine

Step away from the drill, take your bike in for a warranty speedo exchange if you have the fogging problem.

Question for GalvTexGuy, I assume you live somewhere near Houston. I bought my bike at Goes down in Angleton and they got shut down in the Great Dealer Purge. Which dealer did your speedo warranty replacement?

No, just until I break through the plastic back. From the front there’s no clue it was done except my speedometer no longer fogs.

Sure if your bike is still under warranty AND you can convince the dealer that this is a warrantable defect. My warranty expired two months ago, and I’m not going to buy a new speedometer until I determined that I couldn’t fix it myself.

After initially, rarely having the issue, seems it is getting much worse on mine lately. Fogged so bad a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't see anything of the speedometer face.

To me that steps beyond an inconvenience to a vehicle requirement infringement. I would take a picture and if Harley won't replace then follow it up with your transportation government officials as a vehicle violation so a recall gets initiated. It is asinine that the manufacturer releases many vehicle that for many years have this problem. None of my other motorcycle brands have had this issue.

Cheers,

M

It's intermittent, I plan on getting a picture next time and initiating a recall complaint with the NTSB. It cleared up by the time I got home last time, I plan to pull over next time, though not sure I need a picture, but wouldn't hurt. I leave work at noon on Fridays, that's when it usually happens, just need to remember to ride the FXLR.

I did this drilling mod, and i gotta say...so far its working. I went for about a 50 mile ride around and no fogging up like it used to in shorter distances. So hope it holds up
