That is how I did it as well, via email. And you could get more than 1 and sell the other(s) here to make up some of the cost for yours, and help someone like you!
I used 4 small pieces of 3M tape to secure it...easy-peasy. They did it that way so the bike's owner could decide where they wanted to put the tape depending on how often they might need to remove it. Or, one could also use clear silicon or anything else for that matter.
